Quiet modders like mj007 are always a delight on the forums. They lie in wait, soaking up bits of information here and there over the course of months or even years, and then out of nowhere projects start appearing. mj007 has been with us since 2003, quietly wandering around the project logs and gathering ideas before dropping two simultaneous projects on us. One is focused around his XBox (entitled Think Outside the (X)box), and the other is a PC. As he so aptly notes in his logs, ya gotta love ADD!

Ever-So-TightLi is his PC based project, and it's focused on getting his good old Lian Li V2000 case freed up from his gaming system. He wanted the space for a server, and wanted the game setup to be more portable anyway so that he could take it to LANs again. And so, a design was hatched and a subject was chosen - and the (un)lucky Lian Li V300 started to get the makeover of its life.



The old V2000 was just not a very good gaming case if you want portability - particularly if you have a video / DVD server waiting in the wings to take over that real estate. However, a nice V300 ...now that can be a nice LAN case.



mj007 didn't want to give up his watercooling setup with the new, smaller box. So the first thing that was needed was a home for his AquaTube reservoir. The top of the case would work perfectly.



What do you do with two Black Ice Xtreme radiators in a uATX case? Run them across the front, of course! It's a tight fit, but mj007 shows that it can still be comfortably done. Whether the hoses get in the way of the drive bays is a different issue...but one that he's working on a solution to.



Inspired by his Logitech mouse (which has a faux carbon fibre finish), mj007 busts out some of the real thing. It looks much better on the front of that case than the old black plastic - the pattern compliments the vented front of the V300 perfectly. If only LIan Li would have thought of it!

Though there is still quite a bit of modding to go, it's clear that mj007 is doing a great job at making a very classic, clean case mod. We'll look forward to seeing this get wrapped up in his project log.
